Kathryn Leila (Callaway) Wonders, 88, of West Burlington, died at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, July 20, 2006, at Morning Sun Care Center in Morning Sun. Born February 12, 1918 in Burlington, she was the daughter of Milford Filmore and Nora Mae Bolick Callaway. On July 18, 1937 she married Ray Anderson Wonders in Walnut Street Church in Burlington. He died December 30, 2000. Mrs. Wonders grew up in Mediapolis where she attended school. She was a homemaker and also worked at Sylvania Plant, Iowa Army Ammunition Plant, Campbell Chain and owned and operated Kate's Café in Mediapolis. She was of the Baptist faith and was a member of V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed friendship, family, Bingo, bowling, crocheting and traveling Survivors include two sons, Keith Wonders and Dennis Wonders both of Burlington; seven grandchildren, Bryan Wonders, Tara Weatherly, David Wonders, Michael Wonders, Jason Wonders, Kaitlyn Wonders and Skylar Wonders; four great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews Her husband; grandson, Randy Wonders; parents; two brothers, Sylvester Callaway and Raymond Callaway; and two sisters, Flossie Honson and Daisy Collenbaugh preceded her in death A memorial has been established for Mediapolis First Baptist Church.
