Obituary

Mr. James Raymond Wolbers, 85, of Danville, died Sunday, October 30, 2016 at the Danville Care Center.
Mr. Wolbers was born August 13, 1931 in Burlington, Iowa, the son of Raymond Fredrick and Elsie Katherine Gabriel Wolbers. On June 12, 1955 he married Jeanne Ruth Sipes in Burlington. He was a 1949 graduate of Burlington High School and served in the Army during the Korean War. He worked as a mechanic for Ford Motor Company, Burlington Community Schools, and retired from UPS. He was a member of Teamsters 235. He enjoyed tinkering, mechanics and was a good carpenter who loved making doll houses. He was a member of the Long Creek United Methodist Church.
Mr. Wolbers is survived by his wife of Danville, one son, Brett (Jan) Wolbers of Danville; one daughter, Joanne (Bob) Spenner of Washington; and six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother Darrell, and one sister Barbara in infancy.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM, Friday, November 4, 2016 at Elliott Chapel, New London. Pastor David Mixon will officiate. Military Rites will be presented by the Henry County Honor Guard. Immediately following the service a luncheon will be served at the chapel, followed by burial in Aspen Grove Cemetery, Burlington at 1:30 PM. Visitation will begin after noon on Thursday, November 3 at the chapel, with the family greeting friends from 5:00 to 7:00 PM. A memorial has been established to Long Creek United Methodist Church, rural Danville.
