Obituary
Jack Thomas Beeding, 54, died of an apparent heart attack at his home at 827 S. Garfield Ave. at 4 am Wednesday.
Mr. Beeding was a retired Burlington police department captain. After leaving the police department he joined the IAAP security force. He served on the police force for 23 years. A native of Galesburg, Ill., Mr. Beeding was born Dec. 30, 1913, the son of Thomas and Louise Roth Beeding. He was married to Josephine Schauenberg in Burlington on June 22, 1938.
He was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church and of Burlington Police Assn., of which he was a past president. He was also past president of Iowa State Policemen’s Assn., and was a past worthy patron of Burlington OES chapter. He was currently serving as a leading knight of the Elks Lodge and was also a member of the Eagles lodge.
He was a member of Chiefs of Police Assn. and was a member of the advisory board of James A. Guest DeMolay chapter. He was a former DeMolay Dad and was also a member of Des Moines Lodge No. 1, AF&AM.
Surviving: The wife; son Tommy Beeding, at home, and daughter Mrs. Barbara Jackson of Burlington. Three brothers died previously.
Services: Saturday at 11 at Bethany church, the Rev. Earl Meissner; Aspen Grove cemetery. A Masonic service will be held at Prugh’s Chapel at 7:30 Friday.
