Wanda June Wilson, 89, of Sioux City, Iowa, formerly of Burlington, went to be with our Lord, Tuesday, November 12, 2013, at the Holy Spirit Retirement Home in Sioux City. Born June 5, 1924, in New London, she was the daughter of Chester Assa and Norma Conor Welch. On March 16, 1950, she married Harold "Lee" Wilson in Nashua, Iowa. He died April 14, 1999. Wanda had worked as a clerk at the New London Post Office from 1943 to 1950 and then worked in food services at James Madison Middle School from 1969 until retiring in 1984. She was 1942 graduate of New London High School. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, NARVRE, and enjoyed going out to eat with the railroad retirees and friends from James Madison. She also made crafts and loved playing cards. Survivors include one son, Randy (Molly) Wilson of Omaha, NE; three grandchildren, Chris and Emily of Omaha, and Second Class Petty Officer, Alex C. Wilson, United States Navy, Biloxi, MS; one nephew, Jeff Welch of Overland Park, KS; and special cousin, Velma Davey of New London, IA. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM Saturday, November 16, 2013 at Thielen Funeral Home where the family will receive friends. The funeral service for Mrs. Wilson will be 11:00 AM Saturday, November 16, 2013, at Thielen Funeral Home with Reverend Trevor Davis officiating. Cremation will be entrusted to the care of Thielen Crematory following the service. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery at a later date.
