Robert Lee Williams, 83, of Burlington, died at 11:58 a.m. Wednesday, April 6, 2011, at the Great River Hospice House in West Burlington. Born October 11, 1927, in Burlington, he was the son of Raymond Jefferson and Edith Louise Helmuth Beames. On July 29, 1962, he married Dorothy Lucille Davis Parker in Macomb, IL. She died September 19, 2009. Bob had worked at Iowa Southern Utilities for 48 years. He was member of a CB club and a horse club. He enjoyed antique tractors, CB's, motorcycles, boating, fishing, string musical instruments, and the harmonica. He was a U.S. Army Airforce Veteran, where he was a mechanic and an airplane gas truck driver. Survivors include one daughter, Sharon K. (Robert) Whitham of Burlington; one son, John "Butch" Parker of West Burlington; four grandchildren, Brian (Kathy) Whitham, Tonya (Jamey) Hartman, Tammy Dingman, and Kaylyn Parker; six great-grandchildren, Kristina McQuillen,Timothy Dingman,Tyler Whitham, and Kellie, Kourtney, and Mikayla Hartman; two brothers, Harold (Evelyn) Williams of Gladstone, IL, and Richard (Sandy) Beames of Burlington; and several nieces and nephews. Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, one great-grandchild, Nicole Renee Hartman, and one brother, Kenny Beames. Visitation will be from 8:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m., with the family to receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. today at Hass-Thielen Funeral Home. The funeral service for Mr. Williams will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, April 9, at Hass-Thielen Funeral Home, with Reverend Trevor Davis officiating. Interment will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. A time of food and fellowship will be held at the Grace United Methodist Church following the interment. A memorial has been established for Great River Hospice House.
