Ray Albert Williams, 85, West Burlington resident died Sunday, February 26, 2012 at Great River Hospice House, West Burlington, Iowa. He was born September 6, 1926 at Burlington, Iowa the son of Milford Albert and Florence Edwards Williams. On October 24, 1954 he married Gladys M. Dilsaver in Burlington, Iowa. Ray was employed at Midwest Biscuit Bake Shop for 45 years. He was of the Methodist faith. Ray enjoyed watching wrestling and was an avid NASCAR fan when Richard Petty was racing even to the point of receiving a card with photos signed by Richard. He liked to watch the History Channel. As a young man he trained and cared for horses with Ted Thompson. Ray is survived by his wife, Gladys of West Burlington; two daughters, Mary (William) Roach of Topeka, Kansas and Penny Williams of West Burlington; one son Dennis Williams of San Diego, California; three grandchildren and one great-granddaughter; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Frank and John; and one sister Alice Holmstrom.
Funeral services for Ray Albert Williams will be held in Prugh's Chapel Friday, March 2, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. Rev. Tyrone Henderson will officiate. The family will receive friends at Prugh's Thursday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. Interment will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery.
