John Sidney Williams Sr., 71, of Burlington died at 1:07 a.m. Thursday, June 21, 2007, at Great River Medical Center in West Burlington. Born February 19, 1936, in Sunflower, Mississippi, he was the son of Elmo and Ruby Long Williams. He was married to Vinnie Pearson Williams. Mr. Williams worked for Chanen Scrap Iron. He was a member of Faith Temple Church of God in Christ. He enjoyed fishing, lawn mowing and gardening. Survivors include five daughters, Fannie Thompson, Cindy Jones and Stacie Williams, all of Burlington, Lou Williams of Detroit and Bobbie Jean of Kansas City, Mo.; two sons, John Williams Jr. and Tracy Williams, both of Burlington; 18 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two brothers, Everett Williams of California and Perry Williams of Chicago; nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and one grandson. Elder Freddie Starling will officiate, with burial in Aspen Grove Cemeterry. A memorial has been established.
