Florence “Flossie” Louise Boden, 93, of Burlington, died at 3:10 am Monday, Nov. 8, 1999, at St. Francis Continuation Care Center.
Born Dec. 13, 1905, in rural Des Moines County, she was the daughter of George and Clara Schroeder Mehmken. On June 1, 1927, she married John a Boden in Burlington. He died June 27, 1965.
Mrs. Boden began working for Farmers & Merchants Savings Bank of Burlington in 1924. The bank later became Farmers & Merchants Bank & Trust, where she worked as a bookkeeper until retiring Dec. 31, 1970.
She was a member and elder of First United Church of Christ of Burlington, past president, and treasurer of Women’s Fellowship of the church, and Sunday school pianist for many years. She was also a member of Naomi Circle, Wokagege Mission Circle Heritage Hill Toppers, and past Noble Grand of Carman Rebecca lodge.
Survivors include one nephew, W. James Platte Jr. of Naperville, Ill.; one niece, Nancy K. Platte Doss of Dittmer, Mo.; great-nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and one sister.
Visitation will begin after 1 pm Wednesday in Prugh’s Chapel and on Thursday until the time of service in First United Church of Christ.
The funeral for Mrs. Boden will be at 2:30 pm Thursday at First United Church of Christ, with the Rev. Milo Van Veldhuisen officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery.
Memorials have been established for First United Church of Christ Christian Education and Youth Ministry.
