Mrs. Evelyn R. Williams, 84, of Gladstone, Illinois died at 11:31 p.m. Wednesday, December 5, 2012, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City. Born February 10, 1928 in Oakville, she was the daughter of Edward and Alma Ashby Young. On October 7, 1950 she married Harold E. Williams in Oakville. Mrs. Williams was a graduate of Oakville High School and a 1949 graduate of Mercy Hospital School of Nursing. She was a registered nurse working at Mercy Hospital, Burlington Public Schools, Dr. Walter Friday's office and for a number of years at Henderson County Health Department.
She was a member of Gladstone United Methodist Church, Community Club and Home Extension. She enjoyed gardening, yard work, sewing, crafts, traveling and she loved cooking for her family. Survivors include her husband, Harold E. Williams of Gladstone; one daughter, Linda Scott of Danville; one son, Edward R. Williams of Gladstone; three granddaughters; six great grandchildren; and one sister, Delpha Blint of Mt. Pleasant. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Earl Dean Young. A memorial has been established for Gladstone United Methodist Church.
