Obituary
Mr. John Alexander Boden, 64, 1306 Oak, died at Veteran’s hospital, Iowa City, Sunday at 8:30 pm.
Mr. Boden owned and operated a grocery and service station in Gulfport for many years.
He was born July 7, 1900, in Union County, the son of Leander and Josie Stephenson Boden. He married Florence Louise Mehmken in Burlington, June 1, 1927.
Mr. Boden served in the Army in WWI. He was a member of the First United Church of Christ, the Odd Fellows lodge, Carthage Lake Club, Moose, United Commercial Travelers, and the Masonic Patriot Lodge AF & AM No. 650.
Survivors include his wife; three sisters, Mrs. Leona Thompson of Creston, Mrs. Lawrence Fosdyck of San Francisco, and Mrs. Rex Green of Sacramento, Calif; three brothers, Fred of Burlington, Dale of Dunbridge, Ohio, and Earl of Dallas Center; his mother, Mrs. Josie Boden of Marray; and several nieces and nephews. His father and three brothers are dead.
Services will be Thursday at 3:30 pm at Prugh’s chapel with the Rev. Armin Meyer officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery.
