Helen Ruth Wiemer, 88, of Burlington, died at 9:35 p.m. Friday, Sept. 24, 1999, at St. Francis Continuation Care Center. Born April 10, 1911, in Burlington, she was the daughter of Ernest A. and Signa Hamrin Carlson. On May 17, 1942, she married John A. Wiemer in Memphis, Mo. He died March 11, 1983. Mrs. Wiemer was a bookkeeper for J.C. Penney Co. for 27 years. She was of the Christian Science faith. She was a member of Ruth's Circle of the King's Daughters. Survivors include one daughter, Vicki Gerdes of Burlington; three grandchildren, Sarah Gerdes of Columbus, Ohio, and John Gerdes and Julie Gerdes, both of Burlington; one brother; nieces and nephews. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, one son, one brother, and one sister. Visitation will begin after 1 p.m. today in Prugh's Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. A graveside committal service for Mrs. Wiemer will be at 11 a.m. Monday in Aspen Grove Cemetery, with the Rev. Donald Hoornstra officiating. A memorial has been established.
