Mrs. Geraldine "Gerry" Catherine Wickhart, 95, of Burlington died at 11:15 p.m. Sunday, December 4, 2016 at Blair House.
Born October 22, 1921 in Sperry, she was the daughter of Clarence W. and Stella (Kindy) Schmidt. On August 9, 1944 she married Roy E. Wickhart in Burlington. He preceded her in death on April 16, 2002.
Mrs. Wickhart was a 1939 graduate of Mediapolis High School. She worked for Sylvania for 17 years and retired from IA Southern Utilities after 12 years.
Mrs. Wickhart attended West Ave. Baptist Church. She was a member of Chapter 545 Order of Eastern Star and had served as Past Matron, Palestine Shrine #11, White Shrine where she had served as treasurer and the Good Earth Garden Club. She loved to garden, can vegetables, make mints and bake and decorate cakes.
Survivors include one sister, Mary Parks of Burlington; one brother Clarence Schmidt Jr. of Franklin, Wisconsin and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and two sisters, Betty and Edna Mae.
The funeral service for Mrs. Wickhart will be 2 p.m. Saturday, December 10th, at Lunning Chapel with Pastor Bob Norris officiating. Interment will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the time of service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established for West Ave. Baptist Church and Good Earth Garden Club.
