Arthur A. Adams, son of the late Mayor A.G. Adams and the last member living in Burlington of one of the city's most prominent families, died last night about midnight in the Mercy hospital. His death was caused by pneumonia, after an illness of about a week.
Mr. Adams was born here about 64 years ago and always made Burlington his home. His father was mayor for many terms and one of Burlington's most popular executives. Mayor Adams built the brick mansion at Fifth and Arch streets now owned by Dr. C.P. Frantz.
Arthur Adams attended Phillips Academy at Andover, Mass and on Nov 1, 1882, he married Miss Maud L. Manning, who survives with one daughter, Mrs. Louise Stover of Watertown, S.D. He also leaves one brother, Gale Adams, of Berkeley, Calif. and two sisters, Miss Maud L. Adams, of Spokane, Wash. and Mrs. S.B. Harrington of Peoria, Il.
He was formerly engaged in the retail shoe business on Jefferson street and after going out of business for himself was employed in various shoe stores. He was last with the Economy Shoe company. Since last fall he had made his home at the Mercy hospital.
The body was removed to Prugh's chapel but no arrangements have been made for the funeral.
