Mrs. Alta Adams, 89, a native of Burlington, Ia. died Thursday, Sept 18, 1980, at Beaumont Hospital, Royal Oak, Mich.
She was born April 21, 1891, to Charles and Sarah Austin McElroy. She married Alfred E. Adams in Burlington; he died in 1950.
She was a retired Burlington school teacher. She taught elementary and country schools and also tutored the homebound. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church.
Surviving: one daughter, Mrs. Darlyne Hummon, Birmingham, Mich; one son, Alfred E. Adams, Goldvein, VA: and five grandchildren.
Funeral: 1:30 p.m. Monday, First United Methodist Church, the Rev. Raymond Reed, Aspen Grove cemetery.
