Obituary
Dr. Louise Acres, who was born in Burlington July 30, 1854, died at her home in Western Springs, Il, Tuesday after a short illness.
Dr. Acres was the daughter of Stephen Thomas and Sarah Newman Acres.
She attended Burlington schools and later studied medicine, becoming a medical missionary in Burmah, India after which experience she followed her profession in Chicago, IL for many years, both privately and in connection with the Mary Thompson hospital where she was greatly honored and beloved.
Dr. Acres adopted two daughters one of whom, Mrs. William Stephenson survives. Also surviving are nieces and nephews in Burlington and elsewhere. Her body will be brought to Burlington for burial and commitment services will be held in Aspen Grove Cemetery Friday morning April 30 at 10 o'clock. Dr. W.T. Smith pastor of First Methodist church, will conduct the burial service.
