Lillie Mae Clegg, 92, of Burlington, died at 7 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2006, at her home. Born Oct. 14, 1914, in Goodrich, Ark., she was the daughter of Victor and Placelia Pruitt Freeman Rankin. Mrs. Clegg worked at the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant for 32 years. She also was a homemaker and housekeeper. She was a member of Union Baptist Church. She was a former Sunday school superintendent and your choir director. She was active in her church and taught children. She was a member of the Mother's Board and an instructor for the Red Circle Girls Survivors include one son, Victor R. Clegg of Burlington; two daughters, Placelia Robinson of Burlington and Sandra Sands of Miami; one sister, Lola White of Burlington; 14 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and three sisters. There will be no formal visitation. She will lie in state from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday at Union Baptist Church. The funeral for Mrs. Clegg will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Union Baptist Church, with the Rev. Lawrence Mason officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. A memorial has been established for Alzheimer's research. Prugh Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.
