Susan Whetstone, 73, of Winfield, died at 7:39 PM Sunday, September 20, 2015, at the O.S.F Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
Born June 29, 1942, in Pipestone, MN, she was the daughter of Edward and Ida Wussow Baden. On December 31, 1973, she married Lester Whetstone. He died November 9, 2006.
Susan worked as a ward nurse in Tacoma, WA for several years prior to becoming a homemaker.
She was a member of the Bethany Lutheran Church and enjoyed playing bingo, baking, cooking, and poker with the girls.
Survivors include two sons, Mark (Terri) Whetstone of Fort Madison and Jon (Shelley) Whetstone of Palm Coast, FL; three daughters, Dawn Whetstone of Winfield, Suzanne (Mike) Rice of Atlanta, GA, and Julia Whetstone of Atlanta, GA; 17 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one brother, George Baden of Fairhaven, MN; two sisters, Carol (Ronald) Dengler of Jasper, MN and Cindy (Larry) Fritz of Sioux Falls, SD; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and one sister.
Visitation will be 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM Friday, September 25, 2015, at Prugh-Thielen Funeral Home, 3940 Division St where the family will receive friends.
The funeral service for Mrs. Whetstone will be 2:00 PM Friday, September 25, 2015, at Prugh-Thielen Funeral Home, 3940 Division St with Pastor Ralph Andersen officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established.
