Lester Herman Whetstone, 69, of Burlington, Iowa died Thursday, November 9, 2006, at Great River Medical Center Born October 15, 1937 in Kewanee, Illinois, he was the son of John F. and Ella Ouart Whetstone. On December 31, 1973 he married Susan Baden Mr. Whetstone was a US Navy Career Veteran, serving for 21 years and retiring as Chief Petty Officer, he later worked at Burlington Northern Railroad until October 15, 1999. He was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church, and a lifetime member of the VFW and the Corvair Connection, with his passion being his 1964 Corvair. He was well known for his sense of humor and will be sadly missed Survivors include his wife, Susan Whetstone, of Burlington; three daughters, Suzanne Rice of Atlanta, Georgia, Julie Whetstone of Atlanta, Georgia, and Dawn Whetstone of Burlington; two sons, Jon Whetstone of Norfolk, Virginia, and Mark Whetstone of Gainsville, Texas; 14 grandchildren; and a brother Raymond Whetstone of Kewanee, Illinois His parents and three brothers preceded him in death.
