Obituary
Irma Hoelzen Wheeler, 92, of La Plata, Md., died Monday, Jan. 15,2007, at Civista Medical Center in La Plata. Born April 4,1914, in Burlington, she was the daughter of Herbert Hugo and Lydia Hoelzen. On Feb. 17, 1937, she married George Wheeler in Burlington. He preceded her in death. Mrs. Wheeler owned and operated Pre Primary Prep School in La Plata and also taught two years at Walter J. Mitchell School. She attended Burlington Junior College and University of Maryland elementary education program. In her youth, she attended Oak Street Baptist Church. She was a member of La Plata Methodist Church, where she was active with the congregation's youth. She was also a member of United Methodist Women, 2N1 Club, Richard R. dark Senior Center and St. Columbia Chapter 92 O.E.S., where she was a past matron. She loved children. Survivors include one son, Richard "Dick" Wheeler; one daughter, Mary Christine Kroboth; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one sister, Doris Fehseke. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, one son, one daughter, two brothers and three sisters. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Arehart-Echols Funeral Home in La Plata. An Eastern Star service will be at 7 p.m. The funeral for Mrs. Wheeler will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at La Plata Methodist Church with the Rev. Edward Voorhaar officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery at a later date. A memorial has been established for La Plata United Methodist Church, P.O.
