Cheryl Margaret Whaley, 97, of Burlington, died at 10:55 p.m., Monday, Oct. 8, 2007, at Great River Medical Center. Born Oct. 6, 1910, in West Burlington, she was the daughter of Gussie and Helen Bloom Bosch. In 1931, she married Marvin Whaley in Whittier, Calif. He died in 1973. Mrs. Whaley was a homemaker. She was a 1929 graduate of Burlington High School. She was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church. She enjoyed playing bridge, traveling and needlework. She also was a member of TTT. Survivors include one son, Robert Whaley of Burlington; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter and a grandson. Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday at Lunning Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. The funeral for Mrs. Whaley will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday in Aspen Grove Cemetery, with the Rev. Frank Beaty officiating. A memorial has been established for Bethany Lutheran Scholarship Fund.
