Doris Virginia Westerbeck, 92, of Burlington, died at 2:45 PM Sunday, December 13, 2015, at the Danville Care Center in Danville.
Born November 19, 1923, in Burlington, she was the daughter of Roy Frederick and Edna Fisher Bradfield. On December 5, 1944, she married Richard W. Binder in West Burlington; they divorced in 1957. She married Roumas Edward Westerbeck on June 14, 1960, in Muscatine. He died June 22, 1992.
She was a 1942 graduate of Burlington High School.
Doris was employed at the Burlington Basket Company and Burlington Hospital, retiring in 1993.
She enjoyed auctions, the casinos and working in her yard.
She was preceded in death by both husbands, her parents and two sisters, Margaret Cross and Jean Ilkenhons.
Survivors include her son, Tim (Tonja) Binder of Burlington; two grandchildren, Justin Blake Binder of Washington, DC and Courtney Binder Jones of Bessemer City, NC; two great-grandsons, Alexander Jones and Ethan Jones; two sisters, Audrey Doane of Estes Park, CO and Jacqueline Nolte of Ocala, FL; and several nieces and nephews.
Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Prugh-Thielen Crematory.
Visitation will be from noon until 7:00 PM with the family to receive friends from 5:30 PM until 7:00 PM Wednesday, December 16, 2015 at Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home.
A memorial has been established for the Burlington Public Library.
A private family burial at Aspen Grove Cemetery will be held at a later date.
