Robert L. Welsh Sr., 75, Route I, died at 6:24 P.m.Thursday, May 3, 1990, at Burlington Medical Center. Born September 25,1914. in Burlington, He was the son of James Delbert and Helen Rickles Welsh. He married Helen Blanck on July 5, 1934. She died Oct. 18. 1975. On Oct.14, 1977, he married Boris M. Johnson in Burlington. She died Feb. 14, 1990. He was employed as an electrical worker for Burlington
Northern Railroad for 40 years before retiring in 1976. He also worked in the shoe department at Sears. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church. He worked in a Conservation Corps Camp in 1933. He was a member of the Eagles. He was president of Homebuilders Sunday School Class. He belonged to Railroad Veterans, N.A.R.V.E., and was a former member of the Burlington Kiwanis Club. Surviving are three sons, Ronald Welsh, Rockford, Ill., Robert Welsh, Burlington. and Steven Welsh, Rockford, Ill.; 12 grandchildren and three step, grandchildren; seven great grandchildren and three step great-grandchildren.
Friends may call after 9 a.m.today. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. tonight.The service for Mr. Welsh will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Lunning Chapel, with the Rev. Dr. Robert Dodder officiating.
Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. A memorial has been established to the First United Methodist Church. Church Choir.
