Robert Lee Welsh, Jr., 64, of Burlington died at 5:20 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 28, 2005, at Great River Medical Center's Klein Center. Born Dec. 4, 1940, in Burlington, he was the son of Robert Lee and Helen Blank Welsh. Mr. Welsh was an electrician for 4-M. He attended First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). He enjoyed walking and working with his hands, especially remodeling homes, building patios and gardening. Survivors include two sons, Mitchell Welsh of South Carolina and Robert Welsh III of Texas; two daughters, Mindy Schmeiser-Larkin and Tami Jacobs of Burlington; two stepsons, Jack Kindig of Oquawka, Ill., and Tom Kindig of Revere, Mo.; one step-daughter, Sharon Boyd of Naples, Fla.; eight grandchildren; two brothers, Ronald Welsh and Steven Welsh, both of Rockford, Ill.; and special friend Millie Lipper. He was preceded in death by his parents. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. today at Lunning Chapel, with family meeting friends from 6 to 8 p.m. The funeral for Mr. Welsh will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Lunning Chapel, with the Rev. David Nash officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. A memorial has been established for Iowa Lions Eye Bank in Iowa City.
