Judith Kay ‘Judy’ Beik, age 72, of Wapello, died Thursday morning, November 10, 2016, at the Great River Medical Center in West Burlington. The daughter of John and Marguerite Fouts Wells, she was born on January 13, 1944 in Burlington. Judy married Dale Beik on September 19, 1965 in Burlington.
She graduated from Burlington High School in 1962 and from Burlington Business School. She worked in the Treasurer’s Office in Des Moines County and Louisa County and later at the Sunrise Café in Morning Sun and then at Sandy’s Sewing Connection in Burlington.
Judy was a member of the United Methodist Church in Wapello and a fifty-year member of the Rebekah Lodge, currently the Silver Leaf Lodge #394 of Columbus Junction. She had served as a Past Noble Grand and Chaplain. She was also involved in the LAPM, military part of the Odd Fellows. She enjoyed camping, travelling, sewing, quilting, knitting, and country music. She had been a Girl Scout Leader and was a dire Cubs Fan.
Her family includes her husband, Dale; a daughter, Amanda Beik at home; and a son, John & Theresa Beik of Britt. She was preceded in death by her parents and an infant sister.
The funeral ceremony for Judy Beik will be held at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, November 15, 2016, at the Dudgeon-McCulley Funeral Home in Wapello with Rev. Pam Kranzler officiating. Burial will follow at the Aspen Grove Cemetery in Burlington followed by a luncheon gathering at the United Methodist Fellowship Hall in Wapello. A Rebekah Lodge service will be held at 6:00 PM on Monday at the Dudgeon-McCulley Funeral Home where the family will meet with friends until 8:00 PM.
A Memorial Fund has been established for the benefit of the Wapello Community Ambulance Service.
