John E. Weld, 84, of Burlington Care Center, died at 12:16 a.m. Wednesday, July 19, 2000, at Great River Medical Center in West Burlington. Born May 3, 1916, in Plattsmouth, Neb., he was the son of Hood Erland and Margaret M. Steele Weld. He married Wanda Inez King on Oct. 27, 1945, in Hernandez, Miss. Mr. Weld was a graduate of Collins High School in Indianola and attended Iowa State University. He was a Navy Air Corps veteran of World War IL He was a truck driver for many years, retiring in 1978. He was of the Methodist faith and a member of Patriot Lodge Survivors include his wife; one daughter, Patricia Weld of Chicago, Ill.; one son, James E. Weld of Webster, N.H.; and two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister. Visitation will begin at 8 a.m. Friday in Lunning Chapel, where the family will receive
friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Masonic rites will be at 7 p.m.The graveside funeral service for Mn Weld will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in Aspen Grove Cemetery, with the Rev Forrest Krummel officiating. A memorial has been established for the American Heart Association.
