Irene Elizabeth Welch, 86, of Burlington, Iowa died at 4:30 a.m. Thursday, April 19, 2007, at Montebello Healthcare Center in Hamilton, Illinois. Born July 18, 1920 in Amboy, Illinois, she was the daughter of Harry and Marie Burdick Boshell. On November 11, 1945 she married Chester Perry Welch in Kewanee, Illinois. He died August 20, 2000. Mrs. Welch and her husband moved to Burlington in November 1951. She was a homemaker and a member of Golden Oldies, Prime Time and two camping clubs, Silver Sams and Geode-a-Bagos. Survivors include one daughter, Linda Morris of Des Moines, Iowa; two sons, Michael Welch of San Jose, California and Kim Welch of Keokuk, Iowa; three grandchildren, Austin Welch, Jeremy Welch and Natalie Welch; one niece and one nephew. Her husband, parents, and a sister Doris Motley preceded her in death. She will be remembered for her uncommon kindness, love, generosity and tolerance (as well as her potato salad and chocolate pie!). The rest of the world knew her as Irene, but her family knew her affectionately as Babber. She was a gift to the world. Goodnight Irene, we'll see you in our dreams.
