Services for John Henry Weeks, 72, former mayor of Gulfport who died at Mercy hospital Friday will be held at 9 a.m. Monday at St. Paul's Catholic church. The cortege will leave Prugh's chapel at 8:50. Burial will be in Aspen Grove cemetery. The rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, at Prugh's. Weeks retired in 1956, after 46 1/2 years as an electrical transformer station operator for Iowa Southern Utilities Co. He served as mayor of Gulfport for 16 years, from 1934 to 1950. A native of Edwardsville, Ill., he was born Aug. 24, 1889, to John and Christina Bergman Weeks and was married here April 27, 1932, to Dorothy Callhan. Surviving are his wife; a son, John R. Weeks, Gulfport; three daughters, Mrs. Joyce Lubke, Gulfport; Mrs. Pearl Sabins and Mrs. Georgia Burnham, both of Rock Island, Ill.; one step-daughter, Mrs. Robert Shanklin, Burlington, and 10 grandchildren. One brother and two sisters are dead.
