William R. Wedertz, 72, of 1413 Thul St., Burlington, died Monday, March 13, 1995, at Burlington Medical Center. Born Nov. 29. 1922, in Burlington, he was the son of Ralph W. and Phyllis M. Hattenschwiller Wedertz. On July 14, 1943, he married Mary L. Shumate. He later married Marie A. Thye Anderson on May 24, 1968, in Burlington. Mr. Wedertz was a graduate of Burlington High School and Burlington Business College. He was a U.S. Air Corps veteran of World War II, serving in the Philippine and New Guinea. He was an accountant at he Sunshine Dairy for 30 years, former manager of Benner's Food City, and owner of Mr. Tax of America for 17 years. He attended Oak Street Baptist Church for many years and was a member of Harmony Bible Church. He was active in the bus ministries of both churches. He was past president of the Burlington Lions Club. Survivors include his wife; one son, Alan K. Wedertz of Sun Valley, Calif.; one daughter, Connie S. Kern of Burlington; one stepson, Tim A. Anderson of Burlington; one stepdaughter, Cindy Streeter of Burlington; four grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and one grandson. Friends may call after 8 a.m. Wednesday in Lunning Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. The funeral for Mr. Wedertz will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Harmony Bible Church with the Revs. Leonard Schantz and Guy Kneebone officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. A memorial has been established to Dr. AJ's Cancer Research Fund and Harmony Bible Church.
