Edith Viola Blondal, 93, of Burlington Medical Center Klein Unit, who formerly lived on Summer Street, died at 8:45 am Saturday, Dec. 6, 1997, at Klein Unit.
Born Feb. 8, 1904, in Burlington, she was the daughter of Cecil H. and Eliza Ann Sheppard Bliss. On Jan. 31, 1931, she married Gest “Blondie” Blondal in Kahoka, Mo. He died July 1, 1987.
Mrs. Blondal operated a newsstand in Chicago for seven years. She and her husband also operated Blondal Confectionary from 1931 until 1938.
Survivors include two brothers, Richard Bliss of Burlington and Clarence Bliss of Ustus, Fla.; nine nieces; and five nephews.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters and three brothers.
There will be no visitation.
A private graveside funeral service for Mrs. Blondal in Aspen Grove Cemetery will be at a future time. The Rev. Shirley Bliven will officiate.
A memorial has been established for Burington Medical Center Klein Unit.
