Robert E. "Bob" Weddle, 92, of Burlington, died at 12:08 AM Friday, September 16, 2016, at the Great River Medical Center.
Born July 7, 1924, in Shawnee Mission, KS, he was the son of George Roland and Minnie Zurbuckin Weddle. On February 28, 1953, he married Kathryn Shunick in Burlington, IA. She died on December 15, 1984. On March 8, 1986, he married Jean Catherine Kunzle in Wisconsin.
Bob worked for Roadway and was a Teamster member since 1944 and was involved with Crippled Children's Transportation Services.
He was of Methodist faith. He was a member of Eagles, Moose, VFW, Mason, Shriners, and Cascade Boat Club; and had received many safe driving awards. He collected coins, guns, and enjoyed hunting, and photography.
Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Paula Brown of Chattanooga, TN, Karen Lancaster of Rockwall, TX, Janet Strizic of Edgerton, WI; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Besides his first wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers; one son, Mike Weddle; one step-son, Bill Ernst; and one daughter-in-law, Roberta "Bert" Weddle.
Visitation will be from 12:00 PM until 7:00 PM with the family to receive friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM with a Masonic Memorial Service at 7:00 PM Monday, September 19, 2016 at Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home.
The funeral service for Mr. Weddle will be 10:30 AM Tuesday, September 20, 2016, at Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home with Loren Stein officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery.
A memorial has been established for the Shriners Crippled Children's Fund.
