Obituary
A former Mount Pleasant resident, Eugene Clifford Bird, Mesa, Ariz., died Thursday, Jan. 29, at Desert Samaritan Hospital in Mesa. He was 81.
Mr. Bird was born on March 11, 1905, in Mount Pleasant, the son of Frank and Augusta Courtney Bird. He married Marie Stohler Chapman on Sept. 8, 1938, at Kahoka, Mo.; she died in 1964. He then married Marie Hesse Mueller in 1968 at West Point.
Mr. Bird was a retired farmer.
Surviving are his wife, two sons, Mark Bird of Clearwater, Kan., and Kendall Bird of Mount Pleasant; 13 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 7 to 8:30 pm at Prugh’s Funeral Home in Burlington.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, Feb. 4, at 1:30 pm at Prugh’s Chapel with the Rev. Albert Hauser officiating. Burial will be at Aspen Grove Cemetery in Burlington.
