William John Waugh, 81, of 1316 Perkins St., died 8:17 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 27, 1988, at Burlington Medical Center. Born July 11, 1907, in Burlington, he was the son of Henry and Matilda Zaiss Waugh. He married Ethel Kurka April 8, 1931 in Kahoka, Mo. She died Oct. 19, 1988. He was owner of Waugh Brothers appliance store for 36 years. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, the Methodist Men, the Elks Club, the Moose Lodge, the Burlington Sportsman Club, the American Business Club, the UCT and the Chamber of Commerce. Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Suzanne (Joe) Ridge, Burlington; two sons, James W. Waugh, Burlington, and John Waugh, Louisville, KY.; and six grandchildren. Visitation will be from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Monday at Lunning Chapel. The service for Mr. Waugh will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Lunning Chapel with Dr. Robert Dodder officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. A memorial has been established for the First United Methodist Church.
