Virginia Kay Waugh, 62, of Burlington, died at 7:40 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 20, 2002, at Great River Medical Center in West Burlington. Born Nov. 24, 1939, in Keokuk, she was the daughter of Edward M. and Eleanor Palmberg Galbraith. She married James W. Waugh Feb. 17, 1962 in Burlington. She was a 1958 graduate of Fairfield High School and a graduate of Burlington Business School. Mrs. Waugh was a special education associate for the Burlington Community School District for eight years. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church. Survivors include her husband; two sons, Stephen E. Waugh of Des Moines and Matthew W. Waugh of Nashville, Tenn.; one grandson; four sisters, Sylvia Trumbull of Chariton, Analee Harper of Choctaw, Okla., Kathleen Flores of Lake St. Louis, and Linda Cathey of Wentzville, Mo.; several nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Robert L. Chesnut IV of Hope Haven. She was preceded in death by her parents. Friends may call after 8 a.m. Wednesday at Lunning Chapel where the family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. The funeral for Mrs. Waugh will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Lunning Chapel with the Rev. Dennis Tevis officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church or to a charity of the donor's choice.
