Sylvia Rosetta Watson, 45 of Burlington, died at 9:50 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 29, 2004, at her home. Born Aug. 5, 1959, in Chicago, she was the daughter of Clinton G. and Gertie Lee Simmons Freeman. on Dec. 8, 1982, she married Wardell Watson in Chicago. Mrs. Watson worked in the dietary department at St. Francis hospital and for Winegard Co. She was a member of Jesus Christ Apostolic Temple in Burlington, where she attended Sunday school and worked in the kitchen and with the women's auxiliary and enjoyed singing in the church choir. She collected stuffed animals. Survivors include her husband; five daughters, Rebecca Brown, Anna Fredericks, Arlene Watson and Aisha Curry, all of Burlington, and IQuittia Brown of Des Moines; three sons, Wardell Brown and Antavius Watson, both of Burlington, and Marlon Cross of Chicago; several grandchildren; two sisters, Mary Lee Simmons and Jeanette Tillman, both of Burlington; five brothers, Clinton G. Simmons of Burlington and Darnell, Herman, Sherman and Aaron Freeman, all of Chicago; her grandmother, Mary Lee Northington of Chicago; nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister. Visitation will be two hours prior to the time of service Saturday at Jesus Christ Apostolic Temple. The funeral for Mrs. Watson will be at noon Saturday at Jesus Christ Apostolic Temple, with Pastor O.C. WImley officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. A memorial has been established for Great River Hospice. Prugh Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.
