Edith Elizabeth Watson, 82, of Burlington Care Center, formerly of West Burlington, died at 7:43 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 19, 1998, at Burlington Medical Center. Born May 10, 1915, at West Point, she was the daughter of Arthur Edgar and Mary Anna Schmidt Rings. She married George Henry Watson on May 10, 1933, in Donnellson. He died Oct. 7, 1983. Mrs. Watson had been a production worker at IRC for seven years and at Ross Manufacturing Co. for 23 years. She retired from Sylvania in 1963 after two years. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Burlington and the Fraternal Order of the Eagles. Survivors include two daughters, Donna D. Richardson and Sandra L. Wilkins, both of Burlington; three grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and two brothers, Olin Rings of Star City, Saskatchewan, Canada. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and one brother. Visitation will begin at 8 a.m. today in Lunning Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. The funeral for Mrs. Watson will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in Lunning Chapel, with the Rev. David Rogula officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. A memorial has been established for the American Heart Association.
