George James Waste, 63, of 1302 South 14th St., died at 7:16 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 4, 1990, at Burlington Medical Center. Born June 2, 1926, in Sarasota, Fla., He was the son of George E. and Ruth Wilson Waste. He married Georgia Gerling April 5, 1953, in Burlington. He had worked at the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant, retiring in 1989 with 28 years of service. He was a member of the First United Church of Christ and the Moose Lodge. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. Surviving are his wife; three sons, George Waste, James Waste and Jerald Waste, all of Burlington; four daughters, Peggy Waste of St. Paul, Minn., Karen Murdock and Karol Waste, both of Burlington, and Karla Burgus of West Burlington; two sisters, Mrs. Betty (Dale) Hazen of Mount Union, and Mrs. Delores (Eugene) Werner of Burlington; one brother, Carl Vogelsang of Morton, ill.; eight grandchildren; and three stepgrandchildren. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Sunday at Lunning Chapel. The service for Mr. Waste will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Lunning Chapel with the Rev. Bryan Crousore officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery.
