Elsie Iowana Wassson, 82, of Elm View Care Center, formerly of 1006 Spring St., died at 4:50 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 21, 1993, at Burlington Medical Center. Born Aug. 28, 1911, she was the daughter of Joseph and Minnie LaPoint Meier. On Sept. 26, 1935, she married C. Dewey Wasson in Burlington. He died Jan. 17, 1988. Mrs. Wasson had been employed by the Hawk Eye, Automatic Vending and the McKesson-Robins Co. She attended Zion United Church of Christ. Survivors include her son, Charles L. Wasson of Burlington; four stepsons, Donald Wasson of New London, John Wasson of West Burlington, Dan Wasson of West Memphis, Ark., and Dewey Wasson, Jr. of Tacoma, Wash.; six grandchildren, several great grandchildren, several great great grandchildren; and one niece, Gwen Larimer of Lennox, Ill. Besides her husband she was preceded in death by her parents and one son. Visitation will be after 9 a.m. today until 8 p.m. at Lunning Chapel. There will be no family visitation. The funeral for Mrs. Wasson will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Lunning Chapel with the Rev. Gary Chapman officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. A memorial has been established to the Burlington Animal Shelter.
