Melvin Sylvester Warth, 63, of Burlington, died Thursday, April 25, 2002. Born April 17, 1939, in Burlington, he was the son of Walter William and Lois Irene Pugh Warth. On Jan. 9, 1965, he married Carol Helmick in Danville. Mr. Warth worked for Klein Manufacturing for 27 years and Mount Pleasant Warehouse seven years before retiring. He was raised in Burlington and attended Burlington schools. He was an Army veteran, serving from 1962 to 1964. He was a member of Burlington Moose Lodge No. 579. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Mel Warth and Walter Ray Warth, both of Burlington; two daughters, Brenda Lynn Parks of Pekin, ill., and Tina Louise Gibson of Burlington; seven grandchildren; six step grandchildren; one step great-grandson; two sisters, Dorothy Helmick of Fairfield and Mary Cox of Des Moines; and two brothers, Donald Warth and Roger Warth, both of Burlington. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and one sister. Visitation will begin after 9 a.m. Sunday at Lunning Chapel where the family will receive friends following Moose rites at 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. The funeral for Mr. Warth will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Lunning Chapel, with Pastor Carl Engstrom officiating. Burial with military rites conducted by VFW Posts 10102, 9162, American Legion Post 52 and the Marine Corps League will be in Aspen Grove cemetery. A memorial has been established.
