Betty Mae Ware, 90, of Ottumwa died at 9:10 p.m. March 17, 2017 at Good Samaritan Society - Ottumwa.
She was born February 21, 1927 in Ottumwa to Frank and Grace Courtney Brown. She married James M. Ware June 2, 1947. He preceded her in death April 28, 2001.
A graduate of Bloomfield High School in 1944, she taught four years in the Wapello County Schools. She assisted in the American Home Finding for placement of children and worked for six years as a Home Health Aid for Ottumwa Regional Health Center.
Betty also was a volunteer at the Senior Citizens Center.
Surviving are a son, Gary (Donneta) Ware of Ottumwa; a daughter Sheryl (Kenneth) Smith of Ottumwa; four granddaughters and two great-grandchildren; a sister, Billie Foster of Ottumwa.
She was preceded in death by a son, Marvin Ware; a sister, Marcene Stodgill.
Private family services will be held with interment in Aspen Grove Cemetery in Burlington, IA.
