Obituary
Charles N. "Butch" Wardle Jr., 57, of West Burlington died at 7:57 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 7, 2006. Born Sept. 17, 1949, in Burlington, he was the son of Charles Nathan Sr. and Mary Alverda Snyder Wardle. On Dec. 4,1971, he married Susan L. Pepmeyer in Burlington. Mr. Wardle worked in strip casting for 28 years at Exide. He was president of Local 1829 at the Exide plant for 12 years. He was also an electronic technician at the Methode Corp. for 11/2 years. He had a bio-medical degree. He was a member of West Burlington Christian Church. He was chairman of the audit committee at Casebine Credit Union and president of the Isaac Walton League. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, working and reading. Survivors include his wife; one daughter. Shelly Nicholson of Athens, 111.; one brother, Rickey Wardle of Burlington; one sister, Cindy Wardle-Callery of Wilmington, Del.; two grandchildren; one niece; and three nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Prugh's Chapel, where family will meet friends, The funeral for Mr. Wardle will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Prugh's Chapel, with the Rev. David Bellman officiating. Cremation will be accorded following the service. Inurnment will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday in Aspen Grove Cemetery. Memorials have been established for Southeastern Renal Dialysis and the Burlington Public Library (children's books).
