Glenn Edwin Wamsley, 85, of Burlington died at 8:05 a.m. Sunday, February 20, 2011, at Great River Hospice House in West Burlington.
Born June 13, 1925 in Fairfield, Iowa, he was the son of Myrtle Wamsley. On July 2, 1944 he married Marjaleen Ruth Hillman. She preceded him in death on October 19, 2006.
Mr. Wamsley worked at several locations including Campbell Chain, Breck and retired from the Winegard Company as a Tool and Die Maker. He was a World War II veteran and served his country in the Army Air Corps. He was a lifelong member of Bethany Lutheran Church.
Survivors include three sons, Ricky Wamsley of Carman, Illinois, James Wamsley of Pfafftown, North Carolina and Dennis Wamsley of Conroe, Texas; twelve grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild and two sisters, Margie Birmingham of Coal Valley, Illinois and Edith Wright of East Moline, Illinois.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Marjaleen, his mother and sister, Betty Gustafson of Batavia, Iowa.
Visitation will be from noon until 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, February 22nd, in Lunning Chapel where the family will receive friends from 5:30 until 7:30 p.m.
The funeral service for Mr. Wamsley will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 23rd, in Bethany Lutheran Church. The Rev. LeRoy Bradway will officiate. The Burlington Area Veterans Honor Guard will conduct military rites. Interment will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery.
