Obituary
Helen M. Walker, 87, of Burlington, died at 8:10 p.m. Monday, Sept, 17, 2007, at Great River Medical Center in West Burlington. Born Nov. 11, 1919, in Burlington, she was the daughter of Peter J. and Anna Brady Anderson. On May 4, 1946, she married Ronald "Chick" Walker in Burlington. Mrs. Walker was a secretary for Champion International Paper for 21 years, retiring in 1982. She was a 1937 graduate of St. Paul's Catholic High School and a graduate of Burlington Business College. She was a member of SS. Mary & Patrick Catholic Church in West Burlington. She was a former member of the Altar and Rosary Society and the Legion of Mary. She enjoyed golf and bridge and was a talented seamstress. Survivors include her husband; two sons, Jim Walker and Gerry Walker, both of Burlington; one daughter, Pamela Walker of Fountain Valley, Calif.; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one sister, Rosemary King of Prescott, Ariz.; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and one son. Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Hass-Thielen Funeral Home, where the family will receive friends following a 6 p.m. rosary until 8 p.m. The mass of the resurrection for Mrs. Walker will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at SS. Mary & Patrick Catholic Church, with Rev. David G. Steinle as celebrant and Rev. Patrick J. Hilgendorf as concelebrant. Music will be provided by the Des Moines County Resurrection Choir. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. Memorials have been established for the Macula Vision Research Foundation and SS. Mary & Patrick Catholic Church.
