Obituary

Audrey Bernice Hartman-Walker, 87, of Burlington, died at 3:52 AM Thursday, October 3, 2013, at the Great River Hospice House in West Burlington. Born October 4, 1925, in Hopper, IL, she was the daughter of Jesse and LaVerna Whitaker Hartman. On September 26, 1946, she married Loren Harry Walker in Burlington. He died March 12, 2000. Audrey along with her husband, Loren were owners of Coast to Coast TV Service. She was a 1942 graduate of Burlington High School. She was a lifelong member of St. Luke's United Church of Christ. She was also a member of the Des Moines County Saddle Club, Circle Square B square dancing club, Southeastern Community College Blackhawk Booster Club, and Ladies of the Moose. She enjoyed quilting, baking, attending all Southeastern Blackhawk basketball games and in her earlier years bowling. Survivors include two sons, Terry (Kandy) Walker of Burlington, and Dale A.Walker of Cleburne, TX; one daughter, Lorraine (E. Dennis) Jones of Harvest, AL; four grandchildren, Misty C. Cadotte, Jessica L. Walker, Ryan L. Walker, and Alen L. Walker, three great-grandchildren, Caitlin L. Callahan, MaKayla R. Callahan, and Jayah L. Kent, one brother, Kenny Hartman of Burlington, and several nieces and nephews. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her brothers and sisters. Visitation will be from 9:00 AM until 4:00 PM with the family to receive friends from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM Sunday, October 6, 2013 at Thielen Funeral Home. The funeral service for Mrs. Walker will be 10:00 AM Monday, October 7, 2013, at Thielen Funeral Home with Rev. Mark Schowalter officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. A time of food and fellowship will be held in the community room at Thielen Funeral Home following the burial. Memorials have been established for the Loren H.
