Ruth Walker, 91, of Burlington, died at 4 p.m. Friday, October 29, 2004, at Burlington Care Center. Born May 21, 1913, in Burlington, she was the daughter of George and Martha Boers Frudeger. On August 16, 1938, she married Kenneth Walker in Burlington. He died June 26, 1965. Mrs. Walker was a second grade teacher at Perkins School for 19 years. She was a 1930 graduate of Burlington High School, and 1934 graduate of Monmouth College. She was a member of the Retired Teachers Association and RSVP, and an 80-year member of First Presbyterian Church, where she also was a deacon. Survivors include two daughters, Marsha Bailey of Wever, and Elaine Clair of Ottumwa; one son, Larry Walker of Burleson, Texas; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, and two sisters. Visitation will begin at noon Monday at Lunning Chapel, with family receiving friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. The funeral service for Mrs. Walker will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Lunning Chapel, with the Rev. Forest Krummel officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. A memorial has been established for First Presbyterian Scholarship fund.
