Obituary
William H. Bailey, 64, of Wever, died at 6 pm Tuesday, Feb 1, 2005, at Great River Medical Center in West Burlington.
Born July 18, 1940, in Rice Lake, Wis., he was the son of the Rev. Howard L. and Grace Jean Willen Bailey. On Jan. 28, 1962, he married Marcia K. Walker in Burlington.
Mr. Bailey was an engineer at J.I. Case Co. for 34 years, retiring in 1997. He also was vice president of Great River Distribution and he and his wife operated Dream On Kennel.
He was a graduate of Bushey Park High School in London, England, and Millikin University in Decatur, Ill. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Burlington. He was active in his church as a leader in United Marriage Encounters, Mariners, Session, deacon, regional liaison of Committee on Ministry of East Iowa Presbytery, Men's Breakfast Group and was a tenor in the church choir. He was a scoutmaster and on the council. He was active and held offices in various kennel clubs. He enjoyed Cruise Night and collected 1969 Ford and Mercury convertibles. He was active in go-cart racing.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Kenneth W. Bailey of Keokuk and Dennis W. Bailey of Waterloo; one daughter, Tammy K Rea of West Point; four grandchildren, his mother of Lakeland, FL.; one sister, Mary Marshall of West Des Moines; and one brother, Tom Bailey of Palmetto, Fla.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Visitation will be from noon to 8:30 pm. Friday at Lunning Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8:30 pm
The funeral for Mr. Bailey will be at 10:30 am Saturday at First Presbyterian Church, with Rev. Forrest Krummel officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove cemetery.
A memorial has been established for First Presbyterian Church.
