Ruth L. Walker, 100, of Burlington, died at 6:42 a.m. Sunday, March 20, 2005, at Great River Medical Center Klein Center. Born October 5, 1904, in Burlington, she was the daughter of Henry John and Anna Minnie Tiedge Taeger. She married Carl I. Walker on April 7, 1926, in Des Moines County. He died April 6, 1978. Mrs. Walker was a homemaker. She was a member of First United Church of Christ. She loved quillting and crafts, sewing, tatting, crocheting, flower gardening, and canning. Survivors include two daughters, Beverly Gerst of Burlington, and Barbara Kester of Marengo, IL; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; nieces and nephews. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, five sisters, and one grandson. Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. today in Prugh's Chapel. The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday at First United Church of Christ. The funeral for Mrs. Walker will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the church, with Pastor JudyAnn Morse officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. A memorial has been established for her church.
