Laverne E. Waldmeier, 86, of West Burlington, died Tuesday, February 17, 2009, at Great River Medical Center in West Burlington. Born August 14, 1922, in Guthrie County, she was the daughter of Ellis and Minnie Hoepner Brady. On July 26, 1941, she married Ira "Bud" Waldmeier in Guthrie Center. Mrs. Waldmeier worked as a tele-typist for Sears for many years before her retirement. She was a 1939 graduate of Guthrie Center High School. She was a member of Community of Christ Church and Prime Timers. She enjoyed crafts, stained glass and volunteering. Survivors include one son, Richard A. Waldmeier of Centennial, Colo.; two grandchildren; two sisters, Bernadine Bryan of Berthoud, Colo., and Joyce Raygor of Colorado Springs, Colo.; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and two sisters. Visitation will be from noon to 7 p.m. Friday at Lunning Chapel in Burlington, where the family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. The funeral for Mrs. Waldmeier will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Lunning Chapel, with Alan Ourth officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery in Burlington. A memorial has been established for Comminity of Christ Church.
