Donald J.C., Waldmeier, 85, of Burlington, died at 6;25 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 23, 2005 at Prairie Ridge Care and Rehab Center in Mediapolis. Born Jan. 23, 1920, he was the son of John Christopher and Hattie Ethel Lowery Waldmeier. On March 9, 1946, he married Carroll noble in Kansas City, Kan. She died on April 23, 1966. He later married Miriam Vollmer Huppenberger on Dec. 15, 1967, in Burlington. She died on Nov. 13, 2002. Mr. Waldmeier was an office manager at Burlington Shippers Association. He was a graduate of Mount Pleasant High School and was a World War II veteran, serving with the US Air Force in the South Seas. he was a member and past president of First United Church of Christ and served on several committees. He also was a member of the Eagles Lodge and American Legion Post 52. Survivors include several nieces and nephews. Besides his two wives, he was preceded in death by one brother and three sisters. Visitation will be from 12:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Prugh's Chapel prior to the funeral, with family meeting friends during that time. The funeral for Mr. Waldmeier will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Prugh's Chapel, with Pastor JudyAnn Morse officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery. Graveside military rites will be conducted by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 10102, American Legion Post 52, Marine Corps League and AmVets Post 29. A memorial has been established for First United Church of Christ.
