Robert "Harley Bob" Wahl Jr., 69, of Burlington, died at 1:25 p.m. Sunday, August 15, 2010, at Great River Hospice House in West Burlington. Born December 5, 1940, in Burlington, he was the son of Orville Marvin and Corrine Alice Bowman Stewart. On June 16, 1961, he married Marylin Sue Cheely in Burlington. Mr. Wahl owned and operated Bob's Cycle Service on Summer Street, and B&M Cycle on Leebrick Street. He retired from J.I. Case Co. He served in the National Guard. He was a member of Antique Motorcycle Club of America, U.A.W. Local 807, and the N.R.A. He enjoyed making people smile, fishing, building and restoring Harleys, camping, fish fries, swap meets, and time with friends and family. Survivors include his wife; one son, Larry Wahl of Burlington; one daughter, Linda Manes of Burlington; four grandchildren; three brothers, Danny Stewart of Burlington, Jerry Stewart of Tucson, Ariz., and Terry Stewart Sr. of New London; one sister, Stella Wahl of New London; nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, and two nephews. Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Hass-Thielen Funeral Home in Burlington, where the family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. The funeral for Mr. Wahl will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Hass-Thielen Funeral Home, with the Rev. Randy Gearhart officiating. Burial will be in Aspen Grove Cemetery in Burlington. Food and fellowship will follow at Hass-Thielen Community Room, with a memorial motorcycle ride at 1 p.m. A memorial has been established for Great River Hospice House.
