Obituary
Karen Kay Wagner, 73, of Jacksonville passed away early Wednesday morning, July 5, 2017 at Memorial Medical Center. She was born September 16, 1943 in Peoria the daughter of Paul A. and Alma F. Jensen Luckenbill.
She is survived by two daughters, Kristin Wagner of Auburn and Kara Wagner of Springfield and one sister, Shirley (Arnold) Rabe of Mt. Pleasant , IA. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Karen graduated from Yorkwood High School with the Class of 1961 as Valedictorian. She graduated from Burlington Community College in 1963 with an Associate of Arts Degree, Western Illinois University in 1965 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education and Western Illinois University in 1982 with a Master of Science in Education. She was a teacher at North Elementary School in Jacksonville for 43 years and continued subbing into her retirement. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church and a former member of Alpha Delta Kappa. She loved teaching, tutoring students, playing her clarinet and most of all weekend shopping and lunching with her daughters. She was honored in Who’s Who Among American Teachers and won the Teacher of the Year Award for the Council of Exceptional Children. She will be remembered for her devotion to her family.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, July 10, 2017 at Williamson Funeral Home in Jacksonville with burial at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 11, 2017 at Aspen Grove Cemetery in Burlington, IA. The family will meet friends from 2:00-4:00 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the Juvenile Diabetes Association
